Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
The short version: Glide uses your camera to see your hand, and does all of it on your computer. It never records, saves or sends your video, never reads the pages you visit, and sends nothing to anyone, including us. There are no accounts, analytics, ads or cookies.
Who we are
Glide is made by SWE3WE (Sweeney Creative), an independent developer in the United Kingdom. Contact: hello@swe3we.dev.
Your camera
- Glide only uses the camera while it's switched on, after you've allowed it on Glide's setup page.
- The video is read by an invisible page inside the extension. Each frame goes to Google's MediaPipe hand tracker, which runs on your computer from a copy inside the extension, and is then discarded.
- The only thing that leaves that page is the gesture it recognised, such as "scroll down a little" or "go back", sent to the tab you're looking at.
- Video and images are never recorded, saved, uploaded or shared.
The pages you visit
- To scroll a page, Glide adds a small script to it. Your browser calls this permission "read and change all your data on all websites", because that's the permission's name.
- Glide's script only scrolls the page and shows a small hand in the corner. It doesn't read the page's content, doesn't record which pages you visit, and sends nothing.
- "Back" and "forward" use the browser's own navigation.
What Glide stores
In your browser's storage for the extension, on your computer only: whether Glide is switched on, whether you've allowed the camera, and its current status and frame rate. Nothing else. Removing Glide deletes it.
Nothing is sent anywhere
Glide has no server. Its pages are blocked, by their security policy, from connecting to anything outside the extension. That includes MediaPipe's own usage logging, which tries to report to Google and is refused. You can check this in your browser's developer tools.
Your rights
Because Glide collects no personal data, there's nothing we hold about you to access, correct or delete. You can take back the camera or website permissions at any time in your browser's extension settings, or remove Glide. If you have a question or concern, email us. In the UK you can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
Glide collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. A change that sends any data anywhere would be explained in the extension before it took effect.
